Assistant Grain Accounting Manager

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Grain Accounting group. We are looking for an Assistant Grain Accounting Manager to develop and execute strategy to ensure successful leadership and development of staff, accurate financial and risk management reporting, and successful completion of business unit objectives for Grain Marketing and Ag Business. You must be a strategic leader with strong organizational and analytical skills, with a commitment to developing the talent of your team. You must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written with proven ability to build relationships and be successful in a fast-paced environment.
You will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting supervisors and senior level accounting staff.

  • Work with Shared Services Accounting to ensure accurate Financial and Risk Management reporting, Audits/SOX, and General Ledger.

  • Recommend procedural changes to the Accounting Manager.

  • Analyze efficiencies and recommend enhancements to IT and Accounting systems, ERP, and oversee business related project testing, training, and implementation.

  • Facilitate development and execution of strategies to include change management.

  • Provide knowledge of current systems to develop enhancements or new project requirements.

  • Facilitate new business agreements, assess needs of various groups and develop strategy for successful implementation including accounting and system processes, and other applicable components.

  • Backup and support the Grain Accounting Manager position.

  • Represent CHS and create/develop successful relationships with vendors and related industry professionals and companies, along with implementation of vendor agreements.

  • Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.


Basic
Qualifications: (required)


  • Bachelor's degree in Ag Business, Accounting, or Finance

  • 7 years of Accounting experience to include:

    • Oversight of financial mark-to-market valuations

    • Compliance related to SOX/Audit


  • 5 years of supervisory experience with progressive growth in leadership responsibilities

  • Experience with system enhancements, integration, and/or implementations


Preferred
Qualifications: (desired)


  • Master's degree in a business related field

  • Experience managing a large staff with multiple levels

  • Ag business experience

  • Financial and Grain accounting experience

  • SAP experience

  • Experience facilitating or implementing new business and/or joint venture agreements

  • Understanding of Grain Accounting Systems

  • Understanding of strategy, finance, and business expansion within Ag Business


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
